LOST PET RESOURCES

If you do not see you pet above, there are many things you can to do to increase your chances of finding your furry loved one.

  • Create flyers with a picture (if available) and brief description of your pet and include your contact information so the person who finds your pet can call you. Post the flyers around your neighborhood, at local stores, etc. Go door-to-door in your neighborhood with the flyer and ask if your neighbors have seen your pet. Some neighbors may be willing to help you look.
  • Post your pet on Petfinder and PawBoost.
  • You also can post your listing on FaceBook on the Lost and Found Pets Flagstaff page: www.facebook.com/pages/Lost-and-Found-Pets-Flagstaff-AZ/245984348745020
  • Register your microchip for FREE, HERE: https://petkey.org/Register
  • Put an ad in your local newspaper. The Arizona Daily Sun will run a 3-day lost and found ad for free.
  • Make sure you look everywhere in your home. Pets will often hide in unusual places if they get scared. For cats, look in the neighbors’ bushes, in closets, under the bed, etc. Dogs will hide in ditches or run blocks away during storms. Most dogs do not go very far but some who are new to the home could venture miles away. Remember, there are good people out there who want to help a dog running down the street. They may pick up your dog and take it to the shelter, their home, or another location that is not close to your home. That’s why it is important to post notices on all local websites, in the paper, at local stores, and that you check the shelter daily.
  • Make sure your pet is equipped with a microchip and proper collar and ID. If you move, it is imperative that you update your contact information. Make sure you update the rabies information as well.
  • Contact the veterinarians in your area. Let them know your dog or cat is missing and that if he or she is turned in to their office and needs care, you will pay whatever amount (or up to a certain amount) to take whatever measures are needed to save your pet’s life. Give them your phone numbers in case they need to call you to confirm identity or if they need a credit card to start treatment.
