SURRENDER A PET

Surrendering Your Pet

Our goal is to help you KEEP your pet by providing assistance with pet food, medical bills, or behavioral issues please let us know in your surrender application or email surrender@highcountryhumane.org ASAP.

Surrender Policies:

  • See below to follow the steps that must be taken to rehome your pet BEFORE putting in a surrender application.
  • An appointment is required to surrender your pet at High Country Humane. Fill out the appropriate owner surrender application below to set up an appointment.  A manager will contact you to discuss your pets needs and options for surrender.
  • If you have had an animal in your possession for more than 14 days, it is considered your property and the surrender process would apply vs. bringing it in as a ‘stray’ animal.
  • We only accept pets from residents currently residing in Coconino County.
  • Once you surrender your pet, it becomes property of High Country Humane.
  • Please understand that we cannot accept dogs with Behavior Problems or a Bite History.

  Surrender Fees:

  • $50 per adult cat/dog
  • $25 per small critter
  • $25 per puppy/kitten

Before you decide to surrender your pet, we require that you do the following:

  • Send us a pic/bio of your pet and we will post it on our Facebook for FREE with 16,000+ followers.
  • Post a photo and bio of your pet on all social media sites (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Nextdoor, etc.)

  • Talk to your friends, family, neighbors, coworkers or other social networks about your pet.

  • Look for breed specific rescues like Desert Labrador Retriever Rescue, etc. to rehome your pet to first!
