MEET OUR LEADERSHIP TEAM

Liz Olson

Executive Director

“I am humbled by this opportunity to serve the pets and families of the Flagstaff community and beyond. I have worked in animal welfare in Northern Arizona for several years and look forward to bringing my experience and expertise for quality animal care and community programs to High Country Humane.”

With her extensive experience in the field of animal welfare, most recently as Director of Operations at the Humane Society of Sedona, Liz will bring her innovative thinking and proven programs to her new position as High Country Humane’s Executive Director.

She is passionately dedicated to advocating for animals and has applied her training and expertise in a wide range of areas including shelter management, coordinating volunteer recruitment and activities, managing special events, developing TNR, SNR, and Working Cat programs, designing high volume spay/neuter programs, and developing animal care and handling programs that promote reduced stress and healthy populations for both staff and volunteers.

Dr. Carly Bennett

Shelter Veterinarian

“I’ve wanted to be a veterinarian as long as I can remember and worked as a technician at Second Chance for a year and a half before starting vet school and that’s when I really knew that I wanted to be in shelter medicine.

After completing my veterinary training in Dublin, Ireland, I returned to Flagstaff and have worked at Kaibab Vet Clinic for the last six years. I am incredibly grateful to the team at Kaibab for giving me the tools I needed to succeed and move forward to pursue my dream of practicing shelter medicine.”

Dr. Bennett will handle all the shelter’s standard veterinary needs including performing exams on all incoming animals, caring for those animals that come into the shelter with injuries or illnesses, and performing the spay/neuter surgeries required before an animal can be adopted.

Dr. Emily Roth

Shelter Veterinarian

Dr. Roth is native to Ohio and is a 2018 graduate from the Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Her interests in the field vary widely but she is most passionate about holistic health, dentistry, neurological conditions, pain management and quality of life. She is very excited to be a part of the HCHS team and serve the public in need. She is certified in acupuncture and spinal manipulation for small animals and horses. She recently started her own holistic mobile practice called Healing Trails Holistic Veterinary Services in the Prescott area and hopes to extend into Flagstaff. In her spare time she can be found outdoors rock climbing, hiking, backpacking, trail running, and training her dog in agility.  Dr. Roth also enjoys international travel. Some of her travels have involved veterinary service projects in Costa Rica, India and most recently Fiji.
